What Is Medium Term Accommodation?

A Practical Pathway for Disability Support in Transitional Times

Medium term accommodation for disabled individuals is temporary housing support funded by the NDIS. It’s intended for people who are approved for long-term housing supports but aren’t able to move in just yet — perhaps due to waitlists, construction delays, or life events requiring an interim living solution.

We provide fully furnished, disability-accessible homes across NSW that are equipped to meet individual needs. Our team works with participants, support coordinators, and families to ensure transitions are seamless, safe, and tailored to what works best for the individual.

Respite That Feels Like a Break — Not a Burden

A short stay can make a big difference — for both the person receiving care and the one providing it.

  • Disability respite care is more than just a bed for the night — it’s a chance to reset. For carers, it's essential breathing room. For individuals with disability, it’s an opportunity to meet new people, try new activities, or simply relax in a safe and supportive space.
  • Our short-term disability housing is staffed by trained, compassionate support workers who offer 24/7 care with respect and professionalism. Whether it’s for a weekend, a week, or a few weeks, you can trust that your loved one is in capable, caring hands.

We also offer emergency respite options across NSW, with rapid response times and priority support when families need urgent solutions.

Transition with Confidence

We don’t just provide a place to stay — we help you prepare for what comes next. Many of our clients use medium term accommodation as a springboard to Supported Independent Living (SIL), Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), or even returning home after rehabilitation.

We coordinate with occupational therapists, allied health professionals, plan managers, and families to ensure that each stay — whether it's respite or medium term accommodation — is purposeful and contributes to long-term goals.

Who Can Access Our Services?

To access Medium Term Accommodation (MTA) or short-term accommodation services, you’ll typically need to:

  • Be an NDIS participant with an approved plan
  • Have relevant funding allocated in your plan for MTA or respite (usually under Core Supports or Assistance with Daily Living)
  • Be awaiting long-term housing, transitioning from hospital, or requiring temporary support due to a change in circumstances
  • Be a carer seeking temporary relief, or an individual needing short-term support away from home

We understand the NDIS system can be overwhelming. That’s why our team provides:

  • Guidance on understanding eligibility and funding categories
  • Support with gathering documentation for plan reviews or service bookings
  • Help with service agreements and onboarding
  • Flexible options tailored to individual goals and circumstances

If you’re unsure whether you’re eligible or how to include MTA or respite in your plan, we’re here to talk it through — no pressure, no obligation.
